I love the fact that you can download your emails on the move, but GPRS is so expensive if you want to download large files, or check your emails regularly.

Is there any way that the default email viewer can be setup so that it uses bluetooth, or the cradle and connects through your PC to the internet?

I have seen the "ReqWireless EmailViewer" program but this is worse than the default one since you have to download every message when you want to view them. So if you have downloaded you mail at home, leave the house and then look at it again you will need to connect and download it again - not sure that I see the point of that.

All that I really want to do is to be able to download my mail at home/work using an internet connection then read them later or compose emails and send them when connected to a PC. I don't really want to use the email-PC synch tool since I have my work accounts as well as my personal accounts setup and I can't seem to see anyway to only download messages from specific accounts.

All help appreciated
Pickle

Been waiting for a reply to your query myself. I want to use my pc's broadband connection for P800's internet browser over blue tooth. I'll try posting a question myself.

Wily.earthworm.... to browse the web is easier - simply use a version of Opera and it will connect through your bluetooth connection.

Someone must be able to answer my email question - I can't beleive that everyone downloads their mail using GPRS..!!

Emailviewer allows you to collect your email through a PC connection - it even works in my office despite the firewall blocking access to POP3 servers...

Well, I also wondered about download through BT and I did a search on Esato.

What I found, tried and managed to make it work is the following.

Create a dummy GRPS internet account with a fake address, f.i. 123.000.000.000. What you have to do next is to change the email settings to make use of your dummy account when you're on the network.

When I have a BT connection, and I want to download email, I see that it tries to make a GPRS connection through the dummy account and makes a connection to my PC and network. It downloads the email and also sends the one I just created.

Hope this works for you too!

I am not 100% sure how to make this work, and I have tried to find some more information on the esato forums but I am still none the wiser.

Do I need anything special on my PC, like a server, network running, etc?
I have created a dummy GPRS account, with the address 123.000.000.000 (is this address important?) and applied it to my mail account. When I try and check my mail it establishes a connection, and says it is connecting with my mail server. After about a second it comes back saying "Problems copying messages - Activation rejected".
Is there something on the internet settings that I need to change?

Here are the current settings for my new GPRS account;

---------------------------

Server:
username and password required checkbox - not checked
username - left blank
password - left blank
Address - 123.000.000.000

Log in:
Get IP address automatically - checked
Get DNS address automatically - checked

Proxy:
Use proxy server checkbox - unchecked

Other:
Enable PPP extensions - checked
Authentication - Normal

---------------------------

All help is most appreciated since it is costing me a fortune in GPRS calls....

Cheers

This trick with the dummy gprs account only works on p800... on p900 you will only get the activation rejected error. There might be some other way to get around it though (anyone?). Several native uiq apps suffer from this problem... they force a gprs connection even though a network already exists.

So has anyone got this working on the P900?

Or are there any other programs for the P900 that are just as good as the SE one, but will work through a PC ineternet connection (apart from EmailViewer)?

Cheers
