I just switched to Cingular due to lack of T-Mobile coverag in my home. Sometimes my Cingular logo changes to Cingular Extend. Does anyone know what that means?

I believe "Cingular Extended" means that you are roaming, but on one of Cingular's partner carriers.

Hope that this helps!!!

Thanks, it seems like my GPRS is not working when I am in the Cingular Extend area.

Yes, whenever you are roaming, you cannot use your internet, or other special services.

Hope that this helps!!!

cingular will charge you roaming for that. if you see the "cingular extend" even if you are still in your coverage area, call cingular immediately. that's what happened to me. they may have a problem with their network in your area.

Cingular extend means that you are not on a cingular owned network. Whether or not you get charged roaming fees will depend on your plan. If you are on a nationwide plan with a gsm 1900/850 phone, no charge, just use minutes. If you have a nokia 6340 or SE T62u, it could be a problem if it says that inside your "home" area.
