hi there i have a relatively new p800 (bought in september) and was wondering what a 'firmware' upgrade is? also where can i go about getting one and what difference will this make to my p800

You can get your mobile to the nearest SE Service Center and get it updated.
My advice is to update you mobile with the latest firmware(software) so it can run smoothly. It will fix some possible bugs and mistakes.
