Hi, i succeeded in setting up my wap, mms, and mail on my P900 using se's website. However i can receive email but not send it. I get an smtp refused connection message. The settings that came from SE set no smtp authentication and that what i did but even when i tried to set it with the smtp authentication it does not work.
I have Euronet ( the Netherlands) as my internet provider (and a vodafone gprs account) but they have not offered any solutions yet.
Maybe the forum can help for which I am very grateful.

you never send email by smtp, just receive email. If you want to send email, you your MMS, put the email address to the receipant!

Could you tell us what server you are currently using as the SMTP server? I use an Orange SMTP server even though my ISP is Talk21 as Orange provide the relay server. In your case, I would expect a Vodafone SMTP server to be in your settings.

@plv I cannot reply to my emails? only by mms? that sounds very impractical and my email program has an outbox!? i would like to think i can reply from within my email program.

@jah I use smtp.euronet.nl as my smtp server, should this be changed to smtp.vodafone.nl or something similar?

thanks to both for the replies and help offered

check Vodafone's website for the serveraddress, but smtp.vodafone.nl does exist, so you can always try with that

SMTP servers are for outgoing mail.
POP or MAIL servers are for incoming.
Outgoing server should be your IP's SMTP server address. (SMTP.XXXXX.XXXXX) Get it from your IP customer service.
Incoming server should be your mail service providers server and this could be your IP's server or some independant mail service. This will be given on sign up or available from their web site!

@blackhawkuk, I appreciate your help but you write what i already wrote in my post and you did not really offer any new info.

@cytech: vodafone smtp adress is authsmtp.vodafone.nl but it also denies my outgoing mail. thanks anyway.

no, you're right in sending email doesn't go through the smtp server, but it's absurd to send the email via mms unless your network supports receiving of emails via the mms portal and also if it is cheaper. otherwise, just use a normal data connection, gprs, hscsd, csd, etc

Have you discussed this problem with Vodaphone? Have you tried including the authentication information (see Control Panel/Connections/Message Accounts/Outbox tab)?
