I was disappointed to find out that NONE of the Sony Ericsson mobile phones support Arabic language T9 (predictive text input/ dictionary).
This was confirmed by Sony Ericsson Service Centre in Dubai, and in Saudi Arabia (email below):
"There are no Sony Ericsson mobiles support arabic T9 Predictive Text for the time being."
So even if you buy an Arabic handset (with Arabic keypad, menu, SMS), you still don't get Arabic T9/Dictionary.
This is very annoying since Siemens and Nokia have this functionality.
Any ideas what can be done to rectify this ?

This is not true, it seems as though SE staff don't know their own products, i also emailed the customer service centre here in the UK and got the same reply however, i have Arabic support on my T610 ===WITH== pridictive text, what you need is to install the EMEA 6 language pack. i got mine done at CarphoneWarehouse. anyway, it is possible to have arabic on SE t610.....hope this helps and eid mubarak

Eid Mubarak to you too !!
This is really annoying. I was just about to buy the Z200 from Dubai with Arabic keypad, and we tested out the phone in the shop (Jumbo- main Sony dealer in Dubai) and there was no Arabic T9.
Then I made numerous calls to their Service Centre in Dubai and they confirmed that Arabic T9 is not available.
So it seems that the Arabic handsets do not come with Arabic T9 as default and need it to be uploaded. This is exactly what I had to do with a Siemens Arabic handset. It had an Arabic keypad but no Arabic T9 and then I downloaded it myself from their website.
Anyway, since I am back in the UK, I will try to get hold of the Arabic handset from the Middle East and then do the upgrade as you suggested from Carphone Warehouse. Not easy texting in Arabic without Arabic keys !!
I will also have a go at Sony Ericsson for giving me the wrong info !!
Thanks for the info which has really helped me !!
Wassalam.

I rang Sony Ericsson HQ, and got the name of the person who is responsible for Customer Support in Europe and the Middle East.
I complained about receiving the wrong information because it wasted my time and I missed the opportunity to buy the handset I was looking for.
Instead of answering my complaint, this individual forwarded my complaint to Customer Support in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. And two days later I get an identical email I received first time from the same person saying that none of the handsets support Arabic T9 etc.
Even though I told them about the EMEA6 etc. It seems they didn't even read my email and just sent me a standard response !!!
Please could you give me the full number of the firmware so that I can tell these guys because they don't seem to have a clue what is going on !!!
Thanks,
Wassalam
