I just popped onto the update website, in the vague hope that my Orange P900 may be updateable...

Miracles appear to have happened to some extent...

Whilst not the newest firmware available, this appears to be a start... mine can be upgraded through the website apparently from Organiser R1C01 to R2C01 (for cda 163004/3...)

Now I doubt this will make much difference (which is why I haven't downloaded it yet, I plan going to the a CPW or something when I find one who'll update it for me that is) and is a far cry from the newer firmware that others have... but i suppose it is a start...

(Unless that is, I am the only one who hasn't noticed this posted previously, or am the only one left with R1C01 as their organiser number!)

I just upgraded.

Previously:
Phone R3B004
Bluetooth R5D
Organiser R1C01

Now:
Phone R3C006
Bluetooth R5D
Organiser R2C01

Haven't really had a chance for a good play around yet. The only thing I've noticed so far is a bigger clock on the screensaver, and the new text msg fixes with uppercase being taken after each fullstop.

heffer,
Stupid question but are you with Orange also? I ask because I took my Orange phone into a SE Service Centre who said they had to sent it away to SE and it would be away for about 10-14 days and even then it might come back with the same firmware on it! Pretty helpful.
I have the firmware you had previously. Will give it a try.

Could be a slight problem with orange firmware. For a start it's orange, nothing ever works from orange the first time round :-D This message was posted from a T300

I am. I was mighty surprised when the update site went ahead and updated my firmware to what seems to be the latest Orange version.

Hope it goes well for you.

I'm not very clued up on firmware updates. Where is the upgrade site where I can have the latest firmware.

Is it a good idea to backup before downloading.

Do I need to do anything to keep the information or does it do it automatically.

Thanks

Does anyone know if this updated Orange firmware supports the HBH-200 Caller ID display?

The update site can be found at http://www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice/P900/frameset.htm

You will need to backup your phone before updating unless you are willing to loose everything on your phone, i.e. contacts and installed software. You are reminded to do this as part of the update process. It instructs you to launch the backup and restore application.

I to have a P900 on Orange and just updated to the latest firmware. Cant say I have noticed any differences with it yet so I guess it was just some bug fixes.

Regards

And I thought I was imagining it!

No major changes then... I must admit In spite of noticing the update, I haven't done it yet as I just haven't had the time...

Will get round to it on the weekend... did someone say the clock has been made larger?... could you confirm, as others have said no changes, as this would be useful for us non-watch wearing types!... and about the text messaging... I hadn't noticed much of a problem previously... other than with full stops

And... well... you do get some nice new digits in the software version screen thingy... even if they ain't the newest ones possible for an unlocked P900... it's a start i suppose
