I have been researching for fun into different se phones but have come across numerous ones that are not even more advanced than the t630 but are sony ericsson japanese. they do not even have the se logo or name on them? ok, some of the latest se phones will come out there but where is the name? also, the jp website is totaly different - not all minimalist swedish design. in the february carphone warehouse brochure they have a section on coming soon new technilogy phones and had an article on the sony ericsson so50soi. weird name, yes i know . but the picture had no indication of at all? very weird indeed, especially when i have seen a few jp se phones with the logo on.

i wonder if there are any japanese esato posters around - just curious

Indeed they have a total different marketing strategies in Japan. The SO50SOI have been in the market for a good few months now DoCoMo network has aggresively marketed the phone as something fabulous but I think we will have in on these shores soon , so we can decide if it is really the bees knees.

SE Japan is in a way a totally different company, actually it’s still all Sony. The reason for this all is that Japan works on a different frequency (WCDA2000 or something like that). Ericsson never operated in this market so they left it in Sony’s control (much like Europe’s SE phones are Ericsson dominated). The lack of SE branding can be explained by the Network domination in Japan. In Japan you don’t by SE or Panasonic, you buy a NTT Docomo phone or a J-phone phone. Network branding is more important than the actual producers brand. Or so I was told

wow... thats a strange way of looking at it.. over here ( UK ) people always talk abotu removing branding the Tmobile or Orange type.. yet in Japan.. thats all they had.. I guess they may talk about removing the SE brand if it was on there

SO50SOI is featured in the Carphone Warehouse's latest magazine.....only as a future phone that we can expect....no release date or anything or price.

Wow, those are completely different phones than over here...
They'll probably be laughing at all the fuss we're making about t630's etc.
Guess that Motorola 180-design really caught on there.
Btw: 1.3 Megapixel and 16x zoom
