Wot fones are they. If they are tri band or quad band then they will work in the uk if the sim card holder is unlocked

it's phones for the Japanese market, meaning they are made for a different type of system than the one used in UK.

If any of those phones are also marketed in China or Hong Kong,SAR then the chances are they will work here. There is a phone shop in Kinightsbridge which sells phones that are not currently available in UK. For example a Panasonic which is the size of a matchbox for £400

no, unfortunately they will not work outside Japan as they don't support GSM. I believe they use the PDC system which is unique to Japan

They will work in the UK well there will be versions for the UK...but when and how much is unknown. The guys in carphone warehouse estimate by the end of the year or 3 or 4th quarter!
