quick question for you
i have a orange p900 and i have had it unlocked by them
if i get the new firmware will it affect this and also will it reset all my settings?
i want the new one as mine seems to be suffering from bluetooth problems!
also i need a new base for my phone as i dont want the orange one can any one tell me where i can get one?

now my phone is not locked to orange can i use other donload firmware or do i still have to wait for the orange one?
and does it get rid of the orange stuff on the phone like the start up?

cheers

I far I'm aware updating firmware will not affect you sim lock status. I have update my orange firmware to unbranded firmware and its still locked.

have just spent an hour getting the runaround between Orange and SE about firmware updates for an Orange branded P900. Initially the update service says the phone is locked to Orange. My local SE Service Centre said they could only be done on-line and sent me to Orange. Orange said they new nothing about this and told me to go to my nearest SE Service Centre. I felt like I was disappearing up my own ****!!
I then asked to speak to the technical department who would ring me back so I could explain the situation (obviously knowing more than them on the subject). The CS rep then rang me back and said she had spoke to SE directly and this was the routine to be followed:- send your phone (after ringing them) by Special/Recorded Delivery to Celestica (Telford) Ltd, PO Box 80, Oakengate, Telford, Shrops, TF2 9WT. Tel 01952 230402.
You should remove the SIM, battery, back cover, stylus and put the following information in:- address, tel number, Mobile number and it would then take up to 7-10 days to do it.
Question - Does one sometimes regret buying an Orange branded P900? Answers on a postcard to .........
Perhaps I ought to tell my local Orange shop as well as they knew absolutely nothing.

Doug

dougproctor:

Don't send it away....
In my case had Bluetooth problems, SE technical said reflash the software at nearest service centre.
Nearest service centre to me is CPW in Poole, Dorset. They said cant reflash without authority from Orange. Rang Orange (standard 151 switchboard). Authority given. Back to CPW and phone flashed.
Job done..

Don't send it away.... Especially to Celestica....

Ooh really?

Every time I tried that CPW they said they were "in training" for flashing P900s. I guess they're not now!
Thanks for that info!

Mate,

I upgraded mine this afternoon from the online Update Service - saves alot of hassle!

If you send it to Celestica, you're entering whole new world of pain...
