The A5404S, made by Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Japan, Inc. for KDDI's "au" brand of mobile phones, is the first mobile phone in Japan capable of playing the "Mobile Movie" application.
Mobile Movie is a brand new application that allows recording of analog terrestrial TV programs on Memory Stick media for playback anywhere on a growing selection of compatible portable devices, including the A5404S mobile phone.
The A5404S is thin and stylish, yet packs a 1.3-megapixel CCD camera. High-resolution images taken with this camera can be stored on Memory Stick Duo media, together with a variety of other data users usually want to keep in their mobile phones. By incorporating portable TV player capability in addition to convenient voice and mail communication functions, the A5404S dramatically expands the horizons of mobile phone enjoyment.
Regarding the concept and features of this new product from Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Japan Inc., memorystick.com interviewed Mr. Ken Matsuura from the Product Planning Department, Mr. Kosei Yamashita from BU JCDMA Software Engineering Development and Mr. Shota Yoshinaka from the Communication Software Engineering Division

yeah, its one quite a few people have
commented that they wish was coming to Europe, and indeed I recall a thread where someone said it was coming in GSM format but I can't find that right now

Phones in Japan aren't that expensive. By the time these phones will be normal in Europe they will be regularly priced like the phones now are. They won't cost you that arm and leg.

That's more like it, a well-designed Japanese clamshell that actually has an individual form instead of looking like EVERY SINGLE other Japanese clamshell.
CCD camera as well, bonus! No more sh1tty, grainy CMOS images.
