Hello all.

I have had an idea, maybe I am late or the topic has been covered, but I was thinking, after I had spoken to SE about the current problems with the P900 and receiving an almost "deer in the headlights look" from the rep that either SE is not aware of the problems, or they are slow or they will not act until things go public. I propose that we simply compile a list of complaint(being gentle. this is touch love, not a rant and rave session) and forward these to SE and maybe a few high-profile trade jounals, web sites, news groups and of course to SE. This may motivate them to act. In my communication to them, I posted the link to good ole Esato and to the section about the problems that I and others are having with the BT on the P900. Does anyone agree that this might be the fastest and best way to motivate SE into action. Please add your comments. If we get an agreement, then lets start a list, call it maybe: Things wrong with my P900 series phone. Or something like that.

Thanks in advance.

This is a good idea. I will prepare a list from my side and post it later here.

I'm with you!
I was thinking of doing the same thing, but also singing the letter with the name of whole the senders.
But also contact other forums like my-symbian.
More we are better it is.

Orther problem is that you can't record voice during call.. so nobody can't create an answering machine software.

good luck! its been done several times before on Esato that I can remember and there have also been several quite large petitions at petitiononline but I don't recall seeing much success.

still, no harm in trying

We can also send Name, State, and part of the IMEI as signature.
They must hear our voice.

My experiance is that SE dont care. I am sorry to say, but allot of people have tried to get their attention but failed. In my latest attempt to explain a bug in the T9, they had the following respone:

"We have tried it on four of hour phones with the same fw and can not recreate your bug. There for we will not be able to help you"

My interpretation: If the dont have the bug, the bug does not exist!

Of course they do take a look at Esato and My-Symbian once in a while, but I think the dont give it so much attention. There is acutally a well know fact that companies from Japan has a stratagy not to improve an already realesed product. If improvements are made they will release it in a new product (source Mats Carslon, Chalmers Technical Univesity in Gothenburg). Hence T68 to T68i, T610 to T630, P800 to P900. There is a function that actually states that once a product is realesed, corrections to defects are thosand times more costly than on the research table. Therefore the corrected bug free product should be realesed as a new product.

So, to conclude, if we do "help" SE with info on what is wrong and how they could make the problem better, we will help them to realese a new product rather than improvements on a old one. Personally I dont mind, I will gladelly buy a new phone.

Cheers

Luc

@Masseur

Just the person I was hopping would respond. You have quite a bit of experience with SE. I too, as I have been to there locations in Helsinki, Finland and for the most part, they are quite reasonable. However, do you think that this will be something that will simply be blown-off by them or a "quiet" upgrade released that will try to appease us. I have a friend that works for the BBC that lives for this kind of thing, "Big corporation screwing the little guy consummers", etc.. I have seen some of the petittions for several things here but in my opinion they were for things like "I want to make my P800 into a P900". An impossible task since they are not really the same type of devices. However, I, we are asking them to fix something that used to work quite okay with their previous modes. In my opinion, BT worked quite well, up until the T68 and then it was all down hill from there. The T610 was a bit better but not by much and the BT with the P900 is just a bit less than terrible.

P.S. @All,

Maybe the approach we shold take should not be directed at SE in general but at the "E" part of SE. Maybe we contact the Ericsson part of SonyEriccson and express our displeasure. I have had mucho contact with the Swedes and Scandinavians as well and they take integrity quite personal, especially when theirs is questioned. This is a very good thing. Maybe we as VERY LOYAL consummers can approach the issue from this prospective.

Just my thoughts. I just want my BT to work and my phone to browse folders from Windows Explorer.

my only experience is as a very interested end-user and as a member of Esato so it sounds like you have a little more direct experience that me.

Some of what yuo say is true. Some of those previous threads were a little unrealistic.

I think my real opinion on this is that do listen, but simply don't let too many people know that they are listening. I feel sure that comments written on Esato are seen and noted but like any big company it will take time to make decisions and action them.

However, although I say that, I think on of the most often asked questions and wishes on here is about assigning our own ringtones to message alert, a very simple thing to do you would think which would please alot of people, but have they ever done anything about that? um, no!

So I still think it doesn't hurt to write stuff down that is visible but just don't expect too much in the way of results.

As a side note, I have to disagree with your BT comments as I have used it from day 1 of the T68 coming out through P800, T610, Z600 and now P900 and T630 and have never had an issue with using BT, not once. My assumption then is that the problems are user related and certainly the people I have help on Esato have usually resolved their issues with a setting on the phone or the device they are pairing with

@Masseur,

Thanks for the comments. My main problem with BT is as such.

Scenario: Headset turned on and waiting. BT on phone, paired, turned on, and waiting. Phone rings. Me, waiting for BT to come alive and act appropriately. Second ring, hmmmm, no respose from BT. Third ring. Uh oh, better push the button or miss the call. Third ring and a half, I manually make the connection by pushing the button on the headset.

Scenario #2: BT systems active and waiting. I make call. BT does not connect. Have to manually push the buttons to make things happen.

This does not happen every single time. There are occasions(not as many as I would like) where the BT functions flawlessly.

If you or anyone here has a suggestion how to increase my odds of success, I am ready to try anything.

Cheers,
