The reality is that given shorter and shorter product life-cycles new products are being released more quickly. So Sony, for example, have teams working in parallel to allow them to launch a new Clie about every 4/5 months. In the case of SE Smartphones it is was reported that the replacement for the P900 has already been prototyped - it needs to be to allow a lauch around Nov 04.
