All of a sudden my P900 does not seem to be lasting as long on it's battery. I'm just wondering if something may be running in the background that I don't know about ?
I heard some talk about using a filemanager app to check for any progs that need shutting down.
I do have a couple of filamanager apps, but can't see anyway of checking for running apps.
Is there any other software that does this kinda job ?
Cheers

Sman is great, though ive that and switcher on my phone, and using
switcher i always get more memory free...

@music
Perhaps SMan itself uses more memory than Switcher?

Installed Sman but bit confused
What actually counts as a running program.
If I go into pictures, then back out to the main menu, then run Sman it lists pictures in it's list of programs I can kill....
So why does pictures need killing ?
Is it still running ? and what's it running ?
Bit confused.

Well... if sman says its running then kill it off...
Rather than "running" per se, I suppose that the naughty programs you open don't return the memory they use... i mean how can "Pictures" run, its only a list at the end of it all...!
Games though, do often remain running when you switch to something else... this can be noticed if you run a game (depends on the game i suppose), then switch to the applications screen (without properly exiting the game), open sman, find the game entry and click on it... you will probably return to the same point you were at in the game... unless you lost you life of course!... so in that sense programs do continue to run in the background, and will eat yer battery and eventually prevent your phone from running whatever you want it to, since the memory will gradually be used by supposed multitasking software, that don't switch itself off or allow you to do so without software such as sman (contacts for example has no exit command, but continues regardless of you doing something else!)...

thats one thing that I was surprised about, so does the P900 really not have a 'task switcher' like feature? I've been using a Nokia 3650 a bit, previous to my P900 arriving this week. Seems strange how that does, but the P900 doesn't... I've been using Sman too, but thats not half as cool... the 3650 practically has something that replicates 'alt + tab' on Windows.

UIQ interface design guidelines state that no apps should have exit options, and that switching between apps is accomplished by starting them again (if an instance is already running then the app picker will simply switch to that one).
The idea is that the user shouldn't have to worry about what apps are running or not, and that unused apps will be automatically shut down as memory runs low. Of course in practice this is not typically the case, and the no-exit policy is fortunately ignored by nearly all 3rd party apps.
You really do need a proper task manager to use uiq efficiently. To me, the entire user interface is pretty useless without one (not to mention having a lot of apps running will consume battery power, as only the built in apps are well behaved enough to suspend any operation while they're in the background).
