After the mail client checks for messages it leaves the GPRS connection on. is there any way to have it disconnect when it is done retrieving messages?

...however there is no option to disconnect immediately, the shortest timeout is 2 minutes.

On the other hand it doesn't make any difference how long it stays connected after does it? because with GPRS you get charged for the data transmitted and received and if you are not doing anything then that will be zero

@ massuer - yes, that is true. I was worried about battery drain more than usage.

I have mine set to the 5 minute default and am satisfied with my battery time. Mind you I stick the phone on the charger next to my bed every night anyway but it rarely gets below 75%.

I have heard people comment that having GPRS on consumes more battery but I am not convinced that it really amounts to much.

I for one would be interested if someone has some solid statistics on this?

I remember that the T68 FAQ found on the site claims that GPRS functionality don't have any negative affect on battery performance.
