I have been trying to get MMS to work for the past week with T-Mobile but with absolutely no luck. Now I see other people have similar issues with Cingular.

I am sure having the proper configurations is perhaps the first step getting this to work.

I wish there is a central area on this site where people would post GPRS/MMS/Email settings for various carriers (T-Mobile, Cingular, AT&T). This way, new users, like myself, would just go there and configure our phones accordingly.

I think setting up GPRS/MMS is perhaps the hardest, not to mention confusing, thing to do whenever you get a new phone.

Having said that. Would anyone in this group be kind enough to take time to educate us here to post the proper settings that some of us can use.

Thank you!!!!

Couple things: did you get your phone from T-Mobile, as in, is it a T-Mobile version with all the software pre installed? If so, go to a store, get a new sim. They should give you one for free, since it is more then likely the sim that is causing the problem. Features like GPRS and MMS attach to the sim in certain slots. I have found that if GPRS attaches first, MMS will not work. Also make sure that all the features were added to your account. With Cingular, there are 2 feature codes and 1 service code (a data line, which has an actual #), as well as the MMS feature. The service code is often forgotten. Hope that helps.

Just go to SonyEricsson website and have the settings sent to your phone.

The MMS setting for T-Mobile (US) is

http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms

set that as the service center, and there needs to be a WAP account defined to use (or at least it used to be the case...someone would need to re-verify for me as I still use it via a wap account on my P900 and it does work).

Hey guys,

I will try to address all the questions asked here..

1. I did not get the phone directly from T-Mobile (meaning the phone is not branded, plus T-Mobile claims they do not support P900 at this time). So, at the time I signed up for the contract, I ask for the $39.99/month plan, plus SMS, plus T-zone. I did not know the SIM card had to be pre-configured?? My understanding is that you can always sign up for MMS any time after you purchased the phone, therefore the configuration will have to be done separately afterward, correct?

2. I tried 6-7 times sending to myself from SE site (both MMS & WAP) configurations, but I never get them to my phone. Is it my understanding that the message comes in the form of a SMS? This is rather strange actually because I can send/receive SMS with no problem whatsoever. Someone mentioned the SE site would be slow and/or with heavy traffic and it could take up to 6-10 hours. Fact remains, I never got anything back and it's been 2-3 days.

3. I do have the proper servlets/mms setting in place.

So, where do we go from here???

First, search this forum for the proper settings to program into the phone. Looking to program for wap, gprs, and mms (which also may be known as photo messaging.) Can also check some of the pda forums, such as pdastreet.com. Or, do you have another phone that cam straight from T-mobile, or a bud with one? Pull the data.

Second, if still doesn't work, go to a store. Have them make sure that all the correct features and services are on your account. With cingular, there are 4: MMS, a wireless internet package, a data feature, and a data line (an actual phone #, absolutley zero need to know what it is.)

If all are there, and still doesn't work, aske them to replace the sim. They should do this at no charge, since they want those features to work for you, and you didn't mess your sim up. Of course, I don't know their policies, but carriers are pushing features for the revenue, so....

That is what I would do for a customer. After that it would get a lot be intense, but very rarely does that fail after changing sim.
