> R4A06 upgrade to Orange

When I tell the SE site my CDA version (162004/3 R2B01), it doesn't offer me the new R4A06 update.
(a) Can I lie about my CDA to get the latest upgrade? (And, if so, will this de-Orange the phone?)
(b) I can go to the CPW service centre on Glentworth Street in London (past experience = excellent) and ask them for the latest update. Will they want to do this to an Orange phone and are there any additional risks with it being de-Oranged?

When the CPW do a firmware update on your phone they do not alter any of the settings that were installed from the first firmware on your phone.
The Orange settings are in a different part of the memory which Firmware updating does not touch.
This however will not de Orange your phone.
I also dont think the CPW are allowed to wipe the phone clean and install a Fresh version of the SE software.

did u put the r2b01 in the line wiht the cda too. cuz ur just suppose to put in the cdaxxxxxx only, not the r2bo1 with it. it wont work that way?

funny cpw flashed my orange disaster p900 and it was totaly de-oranged appart from the sim lock, cannot be a fluke as i had the phone replaced and got them to flash the new one to de-orange it

I had my P900 upgraded at CPW in Nottingham, after they had checked with Orange and SE regarding warranties etc, and receiving a favourable reply from both. The 'Orange' bits were gone for good, and I now use the online service to full effect.

i quite like the orange pictures on the phone, i just dont like having to wait ages for the firmware
if the firmware and branding sections are different why the wait and not being able to upgrade?
on a similar note while having a look through the phone i found a file called cda_version.txt in a:\system\data this is where all the branding files seem to be too such as the images and start logos unfortunately the file was read only and couldnt change it, anyone know if its possible to change it?
