> Does R4A06 improve flip-closed SMS?
Bookmark topic
Since I cannot yet see for myself, I wonder if the new firmware has addressed any of the following frustrating limitations with SMS:
a) cannot get to drafts/outbox/sent with flip closed.
b) problems with capitalisation of contractions ("it's", "they've"), which get stored in "My Words" and tend to come out capitalised even in the middle of sentences (must be a German program).
c) cannot use T9 to write e-mails.
d) cannot do most accented letters with T9 on.
e) cannot easily do a carriage return with T9 on.
f) [yawn] it's a bit slow...
Anyone who has upgraded care to comment on these?

a) Not fixed
b) I don't use English for T9. Someone else will have to answer this.
c) How do you check this? I can not create a new email with flip closed and only in that mode is T9 available...(?)
d) I believe you will have to be more specific about which words you can't write with T9?
e) Still no way to do this.
f) You said it! Sometimes the screen update stops for a few seconds and then comes stumbling along. Wonder what is taking up all the cpu time...?
Guess this wasn't very helpful...

@sbc_dk
Thanks for the reply.
a) How could they not fix this yet? It is so frustrating that you "lose" your SMS in the middle of composing it if you happen to get a call or something that causes it to time out. The P800 allowed you to see sent messages when the flip was closed.
b) Good excuse!
c) That's my point, I guess. I can write with T9 faster than I can with the stylus, yet I am not "allowed" to use it for e-mails.
d) In English there are not many words with accents, but sometimes I still need to write one. I was expecting to find accented characters in the "hold down #" character list, but only a few are there. You're right this is not a big deal.
e) Why! (No, don't answer that.)
f) I heard there are two processors in the P900 - clearly neither of them is particularly dedicated to T9. But predictive text has always been slow for SE.

a) This has happened to me a million times too. Only thing to do is open the flip, find the sms in Drafts and type the rest of the message with the virtual keyboard. Not a brilliant solution, if you ask me...
f)
And yes, for some reason SE (or just plain 'E') has always been sluggish when typing messages. Rather weird that the most expensive smartphone on the market still doesn't support this very basic funtion in a decent manner. Here in Denmark, most people use SMS even more than the phone part, yet SE still provides technology from the 80's for this...

I use the handwriting recognition, but if you prefer the virtual keyboard, there is a great "predictive text" app you can download. I don't know if they have Danish but the English version works very well. Called eZiTap. Look for it at
www.handango.com you can try the full version for 30 days.
A colleague of mine used to use the virtual keyboard on his Palm, and he can write really quickly using the P900 and eZiTap.
