I recently purchased a custom faceplate and the T6 Torx screwdriver with which to remove the screws...The only problem is that even after the screws are removed, there is still a great deal of resistance. I don't want to force it and break something. So what I am asking is this: Does anyone know what magical combination of sliding and pulling will get this phone apart without causing damage? Thanks.

You havto push the upper backcover (that one above the battery cover) upwards to access 2 more torx screws under there to be able to get off the frontplate.
There ar six torx in total that holds the phone together.
