Having problems (previous postings) about Zonealarm and the P900 software.
(Basically ZoneAlarm complains when P900 not on base at startup as it thinks a drive has been removed)
Firstly, anyone know how to stop this ?
Seconally, when you install your P900/Base/Sync software. Zonealarm asks for about 4 (approx) things to let thru it. If you say NO to these things your PC can't find the P900
I'm wondering if anyone knows which actual bit is the bit that REALLY needs to go thru Zonealarm so the pc can see the phone?
Perhaps I can turn off some of the other bits?????

You need to let all of the programs through which zonealarm asks for when docking the phone. It's an internal question (the docking station with P8/900 becomes it's own computer and is thus in a network with yours). One program will probably want to get out to the internet too, the one you use for updating your P900. This is not perfectly safe, but it's required for the docking to work. Why it's not safe?
Well that's because, there are prolly some people out there whom could get in through the computer via SE's docking station programs and via the phone to to the computer (would be very unlikely, but who knows the mind of a hacker? Not me.. I am just a guy with wild and funny ideas

).

Cheers for the answer LordMike
Ok, will leave it as it is.
But, and it's a BIG BUT !!!!
ZoneAlarm complains to replace the disk in the drive when XP loads up if the P900 is NOT sitting in the base.
I can understand why, as you have told it, the P900 has firewall access, and is in effect another computer/memory card/drive device.
So ZoneAlarm is saying, where the hell has this bit of hardware gone. Please reconnect it.
But perhaps you don't want your phone turned on and sitting on the Base every time you boot up your machine.
There must be a neat and easy answer around this ?

Uninstall ZoneAlarm and firewall your machine on your broadband router.
If you don't have a router, around $30 should solve that.
