Customer Support of Bharti Airtel was horrible....

Why? Have you subscribed to the service at all? Then pls. Call and tell customer support to send the settings OTA. That is what they usually do. :-) This message was posted from a WAP device

Yes I have subscribed to their Rs 600/- unlimited GPRS monthly plan. But inspite of calling them 20 times and sending SET GPRS SONYERICSSON P900 over SMS....there was no reply from them and i hadto figure out the settings through my friends and with the help of internet
in fact i have yet to get auto setup settings file from them

This is bad :-( ok do one thing! Log on to sonyericsson.com and send for those settings or better ask for some airtel friends the settings and enter manually. This message was posted from a T300

@sanjubaba
SMS the words "MO" to 501, ull get the automatic setup immediately say within half hour.
likewise
send a sms to 121 with the words "activate mms"
then after recieving the confirmation that mms is active, which would take approximately 24hrs
SMS the words "MMS" to 501 for the automatic setup

Im using Airtel in chennai. it was a breeze setting my P900 up, and remember to restart ur phone

I also agree AirSmell customer service are useless.
I have been using (well trying to) their GPRS for last 2 months. It is forever getting switched on and off. VERY unreliable. Also the best speed I have ever managed to get is 1.5K when my friend who has Reliance gets 11.5k. I don't think it is REAL gprs.
I am considering cancelling my contract and switching to Reliance.
Only shame is..
1. I prefer my SE T610 but would have to have Reliance Handset.
2. Reliance Handsets don't have Bluetooth (which I also like).
3. Reliance Handsets don't use sim cards so I couldn't swap providers.

But still I think I will still switch... it's just too frustrating.

Hi guys/gals, thanks to all of you I am forewarned not to go in for the Airtel GPRS service.. funny thing is they are charging 6 times what Hutch is and now I find that the service sucks, besides.
Just bought my mum a Hutch connection and I am on Airtel.. think I'll switch too or maybe use her sim for all gprs uses.
Can anyone help me.. I have a Nokia 7250i and wanted to know how ppl rate the performance of this phone.. overall, battery, gprs, looks, features... I liked it because it was perhaps the only phone with both FM radio and camera (nothing fancy but at least I can click cops jumping red lights and post these photos in TOI or somewhere).

I gotta tell u one thing, airtel charges 600 for all services, hutch charges 100 only for gprs access on the fone. whereas with the airtel 600 connection u can connect it to a laptop or a pc.

Hutch charges 499 for the same service. the difference is only marginal.
