If I got a Bluetooth dongle, but lost the software, could I just obtain another manufacturer's software for a Bluetooth dongle, install it, and would it work?

I ask this, because I noticed that alot of dongle's have XTND software, but they don't all look like mine. Also, one of my club members is worried about buying a Bluetooth dongle, but is worried about the fact that it might not come with software.

You have to modify some files (.inf, .dll) for the software driver to work.

I don't know about XTND.
