I noticed that as the A925 is to be released soon the A920 is being sold very cheaply on eBay. Also as it is now possible to unlock the A920, upgarde the firmware for BT support and use some of the third-party UIQ apps this Smartphone is a good cheap alternative to the Pxxx. Remember it also has assisted GPS, which may mean that it can work with navigation s/w (but I have no confirmation of this for 2G networks). Has anyone used the A920 on a 2G network?

The A920 uses Symbian 7 and UIQ, just like the Pxxx. It has the same resolution and 65k colours as the P900.

Please note the AGPS is NOT a Sat-Nav GPS and will not get you the accuracy that is needed to navigate to anything smaller than 1km square which is certainly no good for point to point navigation.
You would be far better using a BT GPS.

Many thanks for the information on AGPS. I use a Emtac GPS but was thinking of using a cheap A920 just for point to point navigation. Looks like I'll stick to plan A which is to carry on using my P900 with a BT GPS.

@Jah
You're welcome! The AGPS is a bit of a misnoma as it uses triangulation from transmitter masts to get your position.
So in theory it should get better acuracy than the triangulation from satellites hundreds of miles away, but having seen a friends A920 position.... I think its not much more than a gimick. As far as I know only N**ia have released a GPS phone.
I just use my iPAQ as a Sat-nav system - sorry to say but the screen size is much more use as a navigation system in the car or on foot. (IMHO anyway).

Is that not the phone which requires scaffold supported trousers in order to make it pocketable... ?
I tried one before choosing the P900, and i must say that I was not at all impressed... it needs a backpack of its own, not a case, in order to be portableish... and it just felt so uncomforatble to use for some reason... Also, at the time, the fact that certain features were disabled was a deciding factor... even certain programs were excluded from installation if I remember rightly... which may have changed now...
On a better note though, the 3g network thingy do offer some cheaper tariffs than the norm... with many special offers cropping up every now and then, which makes the network mildly attractive, but only when a nice, "phone sized" phone comes out to take advantage of it... to say this phone as mentioned is based on the P900 only suggests to me that SE must be way ahead of Moto in terms of development... ok so the Moto has some new fangled things inside, but these are poorly implemented to say the least...
