I bought an unlocked P900
and I can get a never used SIM card with some money on for free
but I think that card could have been bought in a sim-locked deal.
So now I wonder how phones are sim/network-locked
does they read from the sim when start and get locked?
Cause if that is the case I do not dare to try that card.

(Yes I used the search before writing this and didn't find anything
if it has been answered before a link to that thread is sufficient as answer)

The sim-lock issue is always a phone stuff.

The phone is simlocked using the ID from that sim.
The are some ways of getting the phone locked to the first sim entered in the phone, but i think that's always an order placed on the phone rather than the sim.

Bottom line is, I THINK, the phone won't be locked putting the sim on it. Locking is always a phone's matter, the sim can't force it to lock.

I always thought that the phone got locked to the sim through the networks branding of the phone as some networks CUSTOMISATION of the phone locks it and others dont

Edit:Got it the wrong way round
