Will a '3' sim card work in a p900, before or after a phone unlock??
If not is there any other way to get a '3' sim card to work in a p900

I dont think it will. Although 3 sim cards sometimes work in vodafone handsets.

I think, but I could be wrong, that 3 uses a new type of SIM thats not compatable with GSM phone.

A workmate uses an o2 sim in his 3 handset ( dont ask) so there must be some compatibility somewhere along the line.
I sugest you beg/borrow a gsm handset and try it on the principle, if it works in one it should work in any.

Most 3G handsets can switch from UMTS to GSM, but it cant be done the otherway round. It's not possible.

I've tried and it didn't work. Tried my swedish "3" SIM-card in a P900
and a P800. It didn't work. It found the roaming partner Vodafone,
but calling wouldn't work.
sorry...
I cancelled my 3-contract... Hehehe...

Some of the early 3 sim cards did work in a few older handsets. However 3 have made it by design for thier sims to not work in standard GSM handsets. They know if the sims worked people would just sign up for the free minutes and use thier own handsets.
3 need to make revunue and the best way for them to do that is to get thier user base using thier 3g services, footy, music/movie downloads etc.
So unfortunately at this current time the answer is NO !!

i hate 3 they do anything they like and the services are shitty... they treat their customers like shit.... i'm praying for some competition in the near future... my swedish gsm provider (telia) promised a new umts sim card, that would be gsm compatible, for all subscribers....

Just to let you know, I bluejacked a '3' phone in a display unit, the bloke had to find his keys, unlock the unit, look at the phone in a puzzled way, delete the message and lock the unit back up! All while I was standing outside.....

... Pure evil!
