Im quite interested in this myself but as i understand theres only a full version available, and since basically noone i talk to has a p8/900 it would be pointless me buying it. VoIP (voice over ip), although slightly different from what this application offrs, looks like the future of voice communication in my humble opinion.

I have now tested the program and works like a charm.
The cool thing is it works through your pc conection in the same way as opera if u got it connected through the syncstation.
I will buy this

Yes, you can make international calls (I chatted with Bogus Jimmy in Australia, from the UK earlier today).

Yes, the other person has to have the software installed.

The voice quality is better than I expected, but you have to make sure you hold the "push to talk" button (Blue button by default) down for long enough.

Only seems to support 320x??? or lower res pics from the built-in camera, but it works quite well with those... you press the camera button, take your photo and it loads it into VC automatically.

We used about 250kb each for a 20 min chat trying it out, and that included loads of voice messages, half a dozen pics each, and loads of text messages (not SMS). I reckon it cost me about £0.25 GBP for that, which I don't think is bad value at all.

I'm not certain, but I think that it also sends a text message (SMS) to the recipient to initiate the chat session.

On the whole quite fun in a geeky kinda way, but the voice chats were a bit awkward - it's not instant, you record your message, it saves it then transfers it, then the other person receives it and loads it. You end up with probably 4-5 seconds delay between talking and the other person hearing it (depending upon your network too I guess).

Nice idea for long distance calls though, I'll keep an eye on the different systems and may come back to it. This isn't the only version of PTT, and it might be worth hanging on to find out what the "standard" is when one gets established.

But for $10... hey! what the hell!
