the gprs-signal icon in the lower left corner is always green, which the manual says means that GPRS is connected? How can i disconnect it?

This, or some other thing, seems to completely drain my battery, so i have to recharge the phone almost twice a day..

Hi,

GPRS can only be activated and deactivated from your service provider.

The green bar just indicates that it is available to you....

Don't worry , you are not going to get a bill for that! Unless you use internet (Via GPRS) or MMS (via GPRS) etc etc....

When you are connected and using GPRS you'll have a flashing globe on your taskbar!

it's not the bill i'm worried about, more the insane battery usage.. I don't use the phone much, i wirte maybe 10-20 messages, use symIRC for 5-10minutes and 3 or 4 phone calls and a few solitare games.. is it really supposed to drain the batt like that?

no, it is not!
try Sman. you'll take control of what is runing in thee background so you can close all useless programs which obviously drain your battery.

The whole point of GPRS is to be always connected. That being said, the little green bars simply indicate GPRS connection strength and barely drain the battery at all. I get 3-5 days easy on my P900.
