Hello!
I have newly acquired my p900 and have today been playing with the camera functions! I can help you with this. Go into your camcorder application, next click on the communicorder title in the top left hand corner, a drop down menu should appear. Now click on preferences. You should now see below your pic, a bar full of symbols, ie sun, "moon" (!), light bulb, a cloud etc. Click on one of these symbols and you can adjust the settings accordingly!
Hope these instructions help! If this does not work maybe the p900 is faulty and needs to be repaired !!!! Best of luck!!

I am an ex p800 owner myself! hmm i honestly don't know really. p800 worked fine for me. I got the p900 as it a much snazzier, sexier and sleaker phone, although the p800 is a good phone in it's own right

Maybe a good starting point could be found within the lovely little book that the manufacturer decided to give you, for free, with the big grey thing...

It would be so much quicker, and greatly rewarding to solve such a simple problem by oneself... or at least to find out the basics of the phone... perhaps then, one may be able to alter said pictures from MMS size, or whatever you said you had done to it...

The number of posts one makes, does not an expert make...

Obviously this can be quite the contrary...

The P800 may be your forte... but surely such an experienced user as you put yourself up to be may be able to draw on additional resources to discover the answer to the question...

Further, as your experience should deduce... little has been said previously of firmware restricts photo resolutions etc... I had what must have been the oldest for quite some time, being a happy little orange customer, and never a problem with resolution or mms sized photos...

Thus...

On the Communicorder screen... the one where the viewfinder is situated towards the centre of the screen...to the upper left corner, it states what type the picture is... "video", "Message video", MESSAGE PICTURE", "Outdoor", "Indoor", "Night", "Auto"... if it is on "Message picture", then the size will be, surprise surprise, the correct size for a message... the rest are hopefully as self-explanatory...

Now if you follow the advice of the above poster also, which I shall reiterate to avoid confusion... once again on the Communicorder screen... press "Communicorder", then "Preferences"... one will then be presented with an array of options...to alter, in order from left to right, brigthness, contrast, backlight, flicker freedom, lighting (again), then picture size and resolution (something which you are interested in), and finally timer

Now, if the type of photo, as in "Indoor", "Outdoor" etc is set to "Message picture", then you will not have the option to change many of the aforementioend settings, the same applies to "Auto" and possibly some others...

Thus, in order to change picture size, the picture type should be on something like "Indoor", NOT "Message picture", as you will only be able to alter the Picture quality...

Now then, as such a self purported experienced user, I am sure you can follow the above and hopefully, expand your already overly sufficient, apparently, knowledge... failing that you can hope that someone can offer some other advice, that you are also unaware of, or failing that, perhaps SE would be good people to contact... maybe even popping into your local Sony store where they may be able to guide through your problem... maybe even do a firmware update, if you feel that is required, though probably for different reasons than this post may suggest... Also, experienced SE user, you may try to Online update site... it is located on the SE website... however, you may find that certain operator specific phones will not be able to update their firmwares...

I do hope, most sincerely, that this aids your tiring problem...

Well what a grateful post that was...

Seeing the obvious error of my ways, being experienced in that sort of thing, I respond with a most informative and helpful explanation, spanning many lines of valuable space just to aid you in you dodgy camera predicament...

This I did probably due to my extensive reading of... wait for it... the manual... go on... admit, you know you got the answer from the very same source...

And as for my original post being unhelpful... indeed it was quite to the contrary... I believe that it is a most useful suggestion to someone who states they have a problem with the working of the P900, or indeed any device with which one is unfamiliar with, who conincidentally doesn't mention having exhausted such a valuable resource before hand...

It is amazing how even the most "experienced" user can forget something so simple, as can be seen through the potential, though eventual realisation to the contrary, that you may have bought a beta phone!...

And, honestly, I really don't "think" I am smart... my remarkable "smartness" as you may call it, is something I have had to live with for most of my life, so I suppose I just accept the fact now, thus conserving brain power for more useful things like remembering birthdays and what not...
