Every phone company is starting to choose their own way of storing memory externally. But the problem for us is, if we buy for instance a SE with a Memory Stick and want to buy a Siemens or something else, we'll have to also get a MMC or SD. This will cost the consumer alot of money. Is this their way to force us to stay with the same company? I don't like that strategy!

It's as always, a fight for imposing one's company standards.U develop something and if u wanna make a fortune u make sure u standardise urs so everybody will use it thus paying for the trade mark.It was always the same with the audio tapes, cds, video and dvds. Time will tell who will win.I like the MMc standard cuz it's cheap and u can store a lot of data, curently 1GB.
I'll buy a phone with this standard, as u can use the card for a lot of other things besides phone.

Sony are obviously going to always implement their MemSticks & Duos. Other makes such as Nokia aren't going to want to use their competitors stuff.
I don't see much of a problem unless u keep buying things which use different types. I'm laughing with my P800s Duo & my VAIO having a MemStick slot. It's so easy to transfer data to my phone.

The problem with the SD from Sony is that is limited at space. Also, u can use max 128 in a P900..that's a real drawback. Also the price, which is the most important...so it's not compeating with MMC , for example. If it wasn't for the P series and Vaio, Sd would be dead.

They're forcing you to stay loyal to one brand. Even if they all had the same price, it would still bother me, cause there are so many people who first buy a Nokia, then a Siemens, then a Samsung and then a SE. The only solution I see, is that in the near future they're going to include a memory card of 128MB or higher with the phone.

It's not quite like this. There r other reliable phones, except for u know. And the interest should be in standardisation( only one format until smtng better comes along) ...u gain versatility with that kindda card.If disagree, i'll just be careful to get a MMC card-phone
