> Avoid Piel Frama Cases for P900
Bookmark topic
Although the products from this manufacturer (Piel Frama) have obtained recognized quality over other products, the P900 case design is far from being on the same level. While the leather is indeed of high quality the design is incredibly flawed.
To start off, although there is an opening at the bottom of the case for you to connect you phone to the base of the sync base, you cannot. The leather is too thick and the pins cannot reach the base.
As everyone knows (SE P900 users), you have the option of having the phone flip on or off. Normally I would have it one more so to protect the display than any other reason, but since I bought this expensive case I though “…well now there is no reason for me to keep the lid on and this way I can also use the full screen which is much more pleasant…”.
Well I found out the hard way that this was a bad idea. The case itself is not tight enough to hold the phone securely inside the case. Therefore if you open the front lid of the case with the side where you fit your phone in facing down…. It falls to the ground. So much for the leather quality…
Here is another really smart aspect the design enjoys…. All side buttons are readily accessible but the camera optic is blocked by the closing snap of the cover… So you have to open the whole thing to use these buttons anyway! Come on people… oh well. I dished out the cash for it and now I regret it… don´t make the same mistake.
Finally, when I contact Piel Frama, I get no answer initially after sending a second email saying that their attitude is reprehensible.. All they do is complain about my aggressive posture (would you be if an item you bought to protect your investment fails to do what it was designed for????) and that they have no sympathy for my request. Which by the way, was to simply receive the case back and return my purchasing costs? Never mind the damage to the phone, I didn’t even ask for that.

Exactly. Like when someone talks and says nothing useful

Actually I like the Piel Frame case, especially that the lense of the camera is protected.
I agree with one minor shortcoming, i.e. having to take out the phone for syncing etc. But then again, it's not a big deal, I need the case for carrying the P900 around which is usually a showstopper for syncing.
As far as the behaviour of Piel Frama is concerned I can't complain a.
I ordered the case just before Christmas and did not expect to get it within the 4 business days, after all it was Christmas, time between Christmas and New Year etc. When it took a little longer than I had anticipated I sent Piel Frama an email, they replied promptly and explained the situation. When the date they had told me had passed I sent them another email, got a reply the same day, the case was shipped on the day they had promised.
Piel Frama's cases are handmade, this leaves more room for imponderables.
The tone and the style of PF's emails were always impeccable and polite.
PS. I remember a posting in which someone related how he had worked with Piel Frama to make changes to the case. This could proof to be somewhat difficult with other vendors.

I don't think the bottom cutout was intended for one to place it in the sync station. I think it was intended for data cabales and single chargers. Moreover, maybe you should have researched the case a bit more before buying it. I have had one for my P800 for about a year now. No problems. I had one ordered for my P900 and had the owner make some unique modifications for my needs. Unlike most places one can actually talk to the owners that hand craft these cases. I never had problems with them. Granted I spent over $230 for the 2 cases it was well worth it. They made modifications to their original design just for me. I guess its all in how one learns to talk to people.

Indeed I should have looked further in the case before but they were scarce and hard to get info on. Even after I paid for it I had to wait over a month to get it.
Noted that $230 is well beyond what its worth but then again money is a different issue to everyone and also how one parts from it. Just like the forum, you get everything from kids comments to rational people answering and contributing to the subject.
In any case, Piel Farma is living off of their reputation from other products which I cannot comment on. Hopefully something better will come along.
As far as talking to them... I don+t concur. Before trying to buy a case and they weren´t very attentive.
But hey thanks for the input.
Cheers

right, but really not important since taking the phone out is a snap

I guess you open your soda cans upside-down, too?
This is the downside of having an easier entry/removing of the phone

... lens is protected, by design

Well, I do not respond to hate mail either.
Seriously, this case is amazing. It has some design trade-off, and could be thinner (but not with leather), but it is not a bad product, on the opposite!
