I lost my T610 at new year, and I have since had three replacements on the insurance - all three have been unreliable. The first one was fine for 12 houts, then it just kept saying "Insert SIM". Tried cleaning the SIM contacts etc, no joy. The second phone was exactly the same, except it was broken straight from the box. The third one hasn't had this problem, but three times in the last 24 hour all of the black keys and the joypad have ceased responding. I am left with no option but to take out the battery, which seems to fix it.

Are there loads of dodgy T610s kicking about, or have I just been statistically the most unlucky person in the world?

Actually, I also find it unreliable.I don't know why is this ..maybe the soft cuz the hardware seems pretty well built. I experience at times errors, quirks, bugs call it whatever u want...things coming and going. That's not normal u know. Anywa, i looked to replace mine with another model and i tell u , no one makes em as good and cheap like . The competition makes more expensive and featureless comparing to T610.But i sure hate this unreliablity

The thing is, my original one was absolutely fine. It seems strange that the quality would have gone down since then, as it was one of the very first lot. I'm pretty certain the current problem must be a software one, but I would have thought other people would see it if that was the case. I might ask them if they can give me a T630 instead, but I'm sure they'll not go for that and I don't think they even stock it yet.

Statistically you are the unluckiest person, whilst statistically the t610 has the lowest returns rate as a ratio of units sold-which is a lot :-) true This message was posted from a Z600

Old SIM's get bad after a while. It dosen't matter if you cleaned it. It happened to me. I tried to clean it, no luck. I tested it in several phones but in the end I had to buy a new one. I think it's your SIM since you had exactly the same problem with your first two phones and this last one... You might touch the SIM when you take out the battery, thus reinserting it if it had disconnected...
But let's hope it get's cleared up

Unlucky? Not really. I'm on my 3rd T610 by now (1st didn't turn on anymore, 2nd had the joystick not responding right out of the box, and the 3rd won't let me use the 7,8 and 9 keys from time to time...)
But still a great phone with all the features I'll ever need and much better than the Siemens S40 I had before (7 replacements!)
