Hi all,

I noticed that the quality of pictures taken with my Z600 is quite poor when viewed on my PC. See this example

It looks fine on the screen of my Z600. I have tried the standard things, large image size, night mode off, effects off, bright (sunlight) setting etc.

I even tried the trick to press the "joystick" quickly to save the image before it gets compressed discussed here: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=51309

It seems to me that the camera/phone is compressing the image to the max. to save memory. However I would prefer to have a few good images than a lot of bad ones.

I know it is not a digital camera (I have one of those too for "real" photos), but all I want is for it not to compress & pixelize the image so much.

Any ideas ? My firmware version is RB5001

Thanks,

/Mike B.

I would say that that's one of the best pics I've seen taken with a Z600 camera...

I don't know about a firmware update, but i do know that most if not all camera phones offer poor pic quality, the technology is still new.

Sharp GX-20 is probably the best one at the moment.

You'll probably have to wait for a 1 mega pixel camera phone to enter the market before you'll get any decent pictures from your phone.

This means that u don't know that the phone offers CIF quality pictures. That means 288x352 pixels, which is really poor. They look fine on the phone's screen cuz the screens's resolution is 128x160 pixels while ur computer screen is at least 1024x768...i hope u see the diff'rence. Most of the phones offer this 'quality' but there r some offering VGA quality 480x640 pixels which is a lot better in my opinion. The GX 20 is the best in his league-CIF cameras that is. Bottom line: nuthin' u can do about it, just save it on ur pc as they are and don't try to zoom in on them.Just view them on their original ize.I do that and i have some nice pics.I agree, u have a great shot there;-) U took it by facing the sun...don't u know u have to have the sun behind?
