Hi all,
I thought I share my story of how I came to get a P900 for absolutely nothing! Yes, you heard correctly, no Money crossed hands and I ended up with by far the best phone I have ever owned.
It started when I got bored with my *cough* Nokia 7650 *cough* and realised I had owned it for over a year so I thought I would make use of the Vodafone trade in. Now, I knew I couldn’t afford much but I was after more content on my phone, an upgrade instead of a downgrade. I thought my best option was the Nokia 6600 so I trundled into my local Vodafone shop and asked how much it would cost……………”£250” came the reply………..”250 F#$@ing Quid” was hurled straight back at the unsuspecting store manager before I could even control myself.
This baffled me as I could see quite clearly on the display behind the store manager the same phone was on offer to new takers of the same contract I was on at just £150! I did not let this go as you can imagine. I’m normally a pleasant chap but this rubbed me up the wrong way and I moaned…. And I whinged….. And then I moaned some more until I was sure that this poor chap knew how annoyed I was.
Granted, It wasn’t this poor chaps fault at all, maybe it wasn’t even Vodafone’s (even though I had been a loyal customer for 6 years going through a phase of spending over £125 a month) maybe I had got myself excited about getting a new phone that I had become a right royal pain in the arse!!
Well anyway, after about 5 minutes of this I realised I was being a bit out of order so I left the shop to make my way to Carphone warehouse where I was going to make the rash decision of changing contracts and getting a new phone… I also made the store manager aware of where I was heading!
Just as I was about to enter the next phone store my phone rang….. It was the store Manager from Vodafone. He asked if I could pop back to the store as he had some good news for me.
My moaning had worked!!!! He had phoned Head office while I was on my way to Carphone warehouse. Head office had looked up my details and realised I had been a loyal customer so they decided I could have the phone for FREE!!! The very nice man at Vodafone said that I would have a brand spanking new Nokia 6600 delivered to my house within 2 days.
2 Days had passed and a package arrived…. I opened it and much to my surprise they had sent me the wrong phone. Instead of the Nokia 6600, in its place there was a Sony Ericsson P900. I thought that this was to good to be true, so, being the honest man that I am thought I’d phone Vodafone to let them know there mistake. They apologised and said that I could send it back and they would send me the phone I asked for…….. Or…… I could keep the P900 as it was their mistake…………….
And that’s how I recently obtained a P900 for nothing!

Yeh but what's your monthly bill?

I've noticed myself the more your monthly bill is the more leverage you have over them

COmpanies like to keep long tme customers. Whenever I make my annyal call to T-mobile (one2one) and ask for a PUK, they ask why, I say im moving to a diff network to get a phone for free and they will match the price just to keep a customer of over 10 years!
However this can back fire if they dont do the phone or it isnt in stock, and if theyre feeling mean they will tell you to **** off!

@ASN
Sorry, I'm in a pedantic mood, but you meant PAC, not PUK.
PUK unlocks a SIM after it has had it's pin incorrectly entered 3 times.
PIN UnblocKing code
PAC is Porting Authorisation Code and is what is used to transfer a number to another network.
