I got my p900 a few weeks ago (upgrading from Newton and Nokia 6150 but thats another story).

Anyway, I was pleased to see the P900 can with a few Handy* programs like Handysafe, HandyDay, and HandyBase.

However, Handysafe is now complaining and suggesting I purchase a real license.

Are the Handy programs provided under a trial license?

Assuming HandySafe is a trial version, would anyone care to recommend a freeware version of the same functionality? (Likewise for Handybase?)

Are any of the other applications trial versions (I guess vrally is a limited version)?

Thanks,
Paul T

Yep, I did notice that the majority of the included apps on cd were trial/limited in some way...

As far as I am aware, the "Handy*" apps you mention are trials... I think the installation page of the cd does mention this somewhere...

On the note of free programs of that type, then have a look at places such as www.my-symbian.com

Further, I do believe that there was a program which could encrypt files available from Freepoc (not sure of the spelling, though it's on my-symbian somewhere)... it is perhaps not as polished as that which you seek, and I never really gave it much of a chance to find out if it worked properly... may be worth a look though...

It would seem, as a general rul eof thumb though that free stuff is a little thin on the ground... you get the odd gem, but the majority you will have to pay for, as unfortunate as that may be...

I dont think Handy Day is a trial. I've been using it for a while and have not had to register it. Don't know about Handy safe as i dont use it. vRally is a demo with one level. If you like the game I would suggest downloading the full two part trial from www.handango.com (or anywhere else). The two part demo is actually the full game and you would only need to purchase the key installer to unlock it. Even if you dont unlock this demo, it is much better than the demo that comes on the P900 software disk. It has three levels availible, and the graphics are substantially better (you probably didn't think that was possible).

PS. It is not possible to UPGRADE from a Newton. Even till this day, the Newton is the most advanced (not to mention the first) PDA ever made, The interface and Handwriting recognition are lightyears ahead of anything availible right now. That said, I also use a P900 instead of my Newton, as it is more portable and has an integrated phone.
