Good starting point is to set your BT (Mitsumi?) to "discoverable" and "connectable "mode.

I have this same exact problem, and it also started happening when I upgraded my T68m to T68mi.
I looked up the fix but it seems to be a fix for PC's.
Does this mean it's a problem with the bluetooth software on my Mac that needs an update?
Was my phone updated to conform better to standards?
Any help appreciated.
