I am just finishing off a new free ringtone and picture messaging site as I have created a large collection of ringtones and pictures that I want to put online.

My idea is that if someone wants a ringtone then they can either download it to their PC and upload it to their phone (the easy bit) or they can get it via Wap directly onto their phone.

This is the hard bit - I can copy the file using a unique name to a web location and give the visitor the URL and I then have a CRON job running that clears everything out after 30 minutes.

My question is that is there anything special about the WAP location or is it just a plain and simple URL? Do I need any special formatting or anything special setup on the web server and do I give the address is any special way or just http://www.domain.com/filename.ext

There won't be a WAP site or any pages, just the file that the visitor can download.

Is there a need for a 3gp video web site?

I have plenty of space and bandwidth available to host 3gp videos but what I don't have are any vids. If I build a site to host them will people upload to them - not much point doing it if no-one uploads.

Also, would people be prepared to click on the occasional ad to support it? No popups, pop-unders or other similar cr*p and nothing adult!

If it's well received I'll get it up over the next few days

You should be fine m8... I have a site and have no problems with pics. Url is all you need... And most servers dont have a problem with it... Only one way to find out tho! But i do have a problem with getting themes and games onto my t610. I run a server off my pc at home. Check it out if you want... From what wap sites i have seen this one is very good. Thanks for the reply to the first one - I'll just give the standard URL and hope that it works - as you said we will try it and see.

I'll repost the second question as it's a completely seperate subject and web site idea - nothng to do with the ringtone site
