Is there a way to make a dos emulator???this way we could play all the old games and have all the old software running on our phone...DOS doesn't have more requirements than 16mb of RAM and 156mhz processor...is it possible?
I found this page:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net
maybe someone could import the source for symbian?

I assume you're refering to msdos? Why bother? There wasn't any software worth it, unless you plan no running winslows3.1 on it . Better off with uae or a c64 emulator for games, for serious software just use the phones native os,

I do believe that, whilst as mentioned, dos has somewhat sparse requirements, in order for it to be emulated successfully the host unit would require a certain degree more power...
Perhaps best explained in an example...
The Gameboy Advance, I do believe, has an emulator available for the PC... Now, one would be correct in stating that the average PC has more power available to it than the GBA, however, emulation is still somewhat jumpy and inconsistent with regard to sound effects even on the most modern of PCs...
Further, whilst it has been alleged that there are PS2 and Xbox emulators available... again the PC has considerably more power than these, but in order to emulate the specific hardware of these devices, the PC would require somewhat mammoth procesing power, since PC graphics cards alone are not able to successfully perform all the tasks that the PS2 is capable of (it can do a damn sight more, granted, but there are specific ones which are absent)... thus emulation would be software implemented rather than hardware... making things slow indeed, and thus requiring huge processing abilities on the host system...
I don't know if any of that makes sense, but I suppose you could get the jist of it...
On the original note, I was aware that dos doesn't even require the amount of power as stated, which would go a long way to making it more viable I suppose...
Better to spend time on an Amiga or Spectrum emulator though in my opinion...

Guys!is it useless to have games like Dune 2, Tyrian, Scorched earth, lemmings, prince of persia, bubble bobble and all the old games we were playing on our 386???Maybe even duke nukem and command and conquer would be playable since P900 is more powerfull than a 386 cpu with 4mb of RAM!

well, we do have lemmings now! command & conquer would be nice, or even the original civilization. I'd definitely miss my stop on the train then

P900's hardware is powerfull enough to emulate a 33Mhz x386 with 8Mb of memory, a 32/64/128Mb HD, a standard VGA (scaling the 640x480 resolution) and maybe even a plain 16bit SoundBlaster. That's enough for most old games and applications. The Keyboard problem can be easily solved using a virtual keyboard.
Don't know if someone is trying to do a DOS emulator for P800/P900 but it would be nice.
