I have synced a number of times but lately, I have been getting an error message saying that I don't have enough memory on the phone - please delete something. I have checked and there is 8.8mb available on phone and heaps on memory the card.
Any suggestions on what am I missing here? Any ideas on what to do to rectify this?

I have the answer but i hope there is a betteer one out there
I was once a victim of this once as well and no response from SE. i backed up my phone and did master reset and re-installed everything...that didnt work. I had to get rid of everything and then reinstall all my programs manually one at a time and redo my contacts one after another. It was hell but i did it and no problem since.

Have you updated to latest phone software?
I have never had any software problem except if i have flipflush activated on Sman, then the phone freezes when clock starts.

I sometimes get this error, and I have the latest firmware. I have a suspicion that it may be because the P900's memory may be used in a similar way to that of PalmOS PDA's (although I'm prepared to admit that I might be wrong).
Although a P900 has 16Mb RAM, if you look at a blank P900 (no apps, contacts messgages - NOTHING), you'll notice you don't have 16Mb free.
With Palm organisers, the 16Mb would be split between usable RAM (for storing apps, messgages, etc), and something called a 'System Stack', which was used for actually running the apps stored in the RAM. As an example. a modern Tungsten T3 has 64Mb RAM, but you only see 54Mb of this as usable RAM, because 8Mb is reserved for the stack, to run programs.
If a P900 program doesn't free up it's memory properly when you exit it, eventually it's stack memory is filled up, requiring a reset (power off, then on).
So, I don't think it's a P900 issue, more an issue with badly written software. I registered TaskMan because of this, which let's me close programs properly to free up their memory.

since my friend beamed me the applications i wanted, i also experienced my p900 informing the not enough memory thingy. but, my fone have 9.6mb unused not to mention the ms duo. i went to SE to inform them about it, they told me to do a master reset, but everything remains in vain.

Hummmm :s:s:s
I got the same problem after update of the lastest firmware.
Since then I've applications who are crashing, out of memory's, even IR transfert who crashed.
Got my P900 already 2 months before upgrading the firmware, same applications installed as now and then I never, but never, got any problem.
Some bug in the lastest firmware ?
Now I've:
Phone : 3C006
Bluetooth : R5D
Agenda : R4A06
CDA : R4A04
Won't be surprised if other people got the same problems after update.

This is because your phones are running out of RAM. The P900 has comparitevely less RAM than in the P800. The major reason for this (running out of ram) is most of the applications on the P900 don't have an exit option (and they ae not suppose to have one if they are properly programmed, the OS is supposed to close them) and hence when you switch between applications the previous ones are running in the background using up RAM.
To solve this problem use a task manager like SMAN (Free) which will show you all the running applications and provide you an option to close the unwanted ones. Since many of you are already experiencing this problem switch off the phone first, which will close all applications and will regain the RAM before installing SMAN.
Hope this helps. Let us know if this worked
EDIT: You can get SMAN
here

Alot of ppl seems to be confused when they get an not enough RAM or out of ram message and say but I got 9MB free on C: it's not the same thing!
SMAN is a very good tool to close/flush running apps from RAM
I never get out of RAM since I let SMAN flush the apps everytime I
close the flip. (I usually have >7MB free at startup and ~6.2MB
after normal use and sman flush. Some ram don't seem to be recoverble
but I don't have a problem all my apps including Opera 6.3 and VRally starts/runs w/o problems).
edit: I see someone else was quicker then me with the answer but
I'll leave my post anyway since it's worth repeating hehe
