> Does SMS work across international boarders?
Bookmark topic
Have friend that lives in Jamaica and uses a Motorola V66 GSM phone via DigiCell and I am in the US. Is there a way for SMS messages to get sent to that phone from my phone? Not had any luck as of yet but am wondering if there is something that has to be done in addition when sending international.
Many thanks

Then it would stand to reason that what ever sequence of numbers you have to use to dial the person should work in sending an SMS message, right?

Yeah exactly right, I'm living in the UK and I sms my friends in NZ all the time, plus other friends that are working in Holland and Switzerland, you should have no trouble

And do you have obligatory to put the sms center of the country you are sending the sms? (Because when i send a sms from Belgium to Netherlands with the sms center of my operator, the message does arrive to destination!)

you use the number of your operator's sms center no matter where you are in the world (just rememeber that you must have the country code in the number if you are in another country)

Use all the normal sms setup you have...just the international format of the number is needed...if it doesnt work then speak to your network...ITS NETWORK DEPENDANT!

It's completely dependent on your network. When in Belgium, if I use Proximus with prepay, it doesn't work, with abonnement it does. Base won't let me send abroad and the only one that works is MOBISTAR
Here in Azerbaijan, I can pretty much send anywhere and only Base, belgium and one other network in Morocco, can't receive...
Pretty pathetic really, seeing as a retarded network like Azercell
can send to almost anyone, but Proximus and Base, can't...
