I've managed to connect to the Internet with my T610 from my WinXP machine via bluetooth, but the connection is only at 9.6kbps (I'm too mean to pay for GPRS!).
Is there a reference for the connection strings that can be used to manipulate the connection speeds, dial type etc.?

oyou shouldn't need that, just go to control panel and (assuming you are using classic view) click on Phone and Modem options and then modems tab and then click on the modem in question and click on properties, then click on modem and ensure the maximum port speed is set correctly

@masseur,is that the end of that then? i think that 9.6 is the max for the t610.

I tried my T68i connection string in the Extra initialization commands box on the Advanced tab:
AT+CHSN=2,1,0,8
and whallop - 14.4kbps connection speed. Not sure why I didn't try it straight away.. Still I'd be interested to know what strings to use to achieve faster speeds etc if anyone has a link to a reference...

If you're using CSD (which you are), 14.4K/s is all you're going to get, unless you subscribe to HSCSD and get several combined 9.6/14.4k time slots. But then you'll be paying through the nose, which kind of defeats the purpose.

yeah, thats correct. I haven't used CSD for so long I just assume everyone is on GPRS these days

Chris, how did you connect to the internet with your T610? I have a T630 and would like to develop Java apps that can access the internet, but I'd like to use my broadband for access during development.
I've seen other posts about this topic, but none of the tricks have worked for me.
