Just wondering: Are the 6MB and 9MB typical figures for 'clean' vanilla P900's (without programs running and nothing saved on disk)?

P900 has only about 6MB free RAM available after the essential programs are running. I don't think we can do any thing about it unfortunately. The p800 had about 8MB Free RAM.
@glose
Which are those programms which need more than 6 MB to run, just curious

why does it require 10mb to run the essential programs?
and because of this why was more ram not put in?
cheers

Well thats a good question

but I don't know the answer

perhaps some one else here will be able to answer that
Its sad that you can't run the tube software on the p900. I never tried it myself though. I read that you use handy day to close the applications try closing handy day also after that handy day has a close option. May be that will give you just enough space to run the map
If that also dosen't work then change the title of this thread mentioning tube map because I am quite sure many of the p900 owners are using it otherwise this would have been mentioned here earlier.

yes i have tried that also closing handy day and even then it still doesnt work properly
the main problem is the tube map but also the phone starts to get bogged down very fast due tot he lack of RAM so i thought that it should have more than that as standard of if not it should be able to be freed up a little more as 10mb for the essential running seems a lot to me but maybe im just mistaken!

Wallpapers, especially animated ones eat up memory. Deactivate them and then check your free memory, you should have more. I find SMan absolutely essential the in the day to day running of my P900, if you don't use it then I would highly recommend that you do.
