i finally got my p900 this morning, and i left it to charge till i got home from work, i knew it was locked to orange so i needed to get that sorted...anyway...the problem is, i installed all the suite software but the thing always just says 'connecting'...in the link properties!! why!
i dont have a orange sim card to put in and to unllock it i need it connected to my computer...does anyone have any ideas?!

First time you press "ON" on your P900 it takes you through the full line of "personaliasing" your phone.
Nothing can be done unleess your phonsever been turned on, fully.

One suggestion is to see if anyone you know has an old, expired Orange SIM.
My friend gave me his old Orange SIM once his contract was up. WIth that in my phone, I can turn it on fully, and access the phone's features, but it doesn't connect to the network, and I cannot make calls. But, as far as the phone is concerned, it has an Orange SIM, so it's happy.
This was so handy when I wanted to move my contacts from my old P800 to my new P900via bluetooth.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can gather, you're trying to use the sync station to unlock the phone?
That wont work (at least from what I know).
You need what is called a T28 service cable. It is separate and doesn't require the phone to be on to work with the unlocking software. It also doesn't need a SIM (in fact it's recommended you don't have it in the phone when unlocking).
The software to unlock the phone requires to connect to a serial COM port...and as far as I'm aware, the USB syncstation will not work with such methods.
