Hi guys, my cousin just had his P800 stolen from him at school, basically I told him to keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell it and then attempt to buy it and check the IMEI on the inside of the phone. But since chances are slim, does anyone have any advice about getting it replaced? I emailed Sony Ericsson and told them I have a police report if they want to verify the validity of my claim, but I don't know if they will just say "Theft isn't covered, sorry" Any other advice? I have a P800, but of course if I tell them its busted, then they will ask me to send it in...so there won't be a replacement that way, thanks for any advice?

Here's some advice - stop using message boards to ask questions about how to defraud mobile phone companies.

SE have absolutely no obligation to cover theft under any warranty. If your cousin is going to take an expensive phone to school with him then he should have enough sense to get it insured.

Why didn't he take out phone insurance with his contract ? Not a great deal of sympathy really.

P800 at school? Hey, look what I've got!!!
Lock the SIM, Lock the phone, insure it and if it's lost/stolen/broken you have recourse.
And cut the crap.

here is my advice for u
and with that advice ur going to get ur phone back and u will know who stole it ...
first each device have IMEI number ...
ok go to cops and report the phone has been stoled and give them ur recipe number or the box number and IMEI number of ur phone .
then take a copy for ur report in the police department and take it to each phone company u have sych orange vodafone ex....
so this is how it work , when take the report to the phones company and give them ur IMEI number , they will capture the man who have ur phone
when he put the simcard in the phone and the phone start to search for network it will give the IMEI number to the cel phone company , its like an ID for each phone then they can capture the guy who have ur phone by tracing the phone number and trace where he live it work like Mini gps i u try it MINIGPS u can see in what area u live and what point so this how it work in my country and it always succed .... Good luk
answer me gor what happen with u

well I'm in america actually, we cancelled the tmobile line but tmobile said there was no way of tracking the phone with an IMEI. Furthermore, our companies dont offer insurance, and I was askin to see if anyone knows if SonyEricsson covers theft, I know many manufacturers don't and some do. So he was put in a hole really with no option of insurance (purchased direct from SE), and can't get it tracked, so before you assume and say we're idiots for not doing something, think again, because if this happened to you, some of you would be crying babies, and don't say well I have insurance, because for some of us, insurance isnt an option.

Did buy the phone with your credit card? if so, your cc company may cough up the money...
