> P900 synch and firewall/antivirus
Bookmark topic
Hello!
I bought my p900 a few days ago and had troubles getting my computer to recognise it. After browsing this forum I understood that my Panda Platinum probably was the program that messed things up so I uninstalled it. Now it works! But to the point: Which firewall/antivirus programs can you run and at the same time synch your p900? (I can't install Symantec Norton due to some other problems I had earlier).
Cheers!

if you read the Read Me file after installation, there are some instructions on how to handle various firewall software. there are something like 4 to 6 files which need to be given access by the firewall.
barring that, i believe simply disabling the firewall during syncs should do the trick. maybe nothing so drastic as firewall uninstalling is necessary.

WinXP (and I think Win2K) has built-in support for blocking unauthorized access into your machine (firewalling). That's no help with the virus scanners though.

Thanks for the advice...I had Panda platinum and that didn't work with just disabling the firewall...strangely enough. Perhaps I should try mcafee then..

Zone Alarm works for me.
You can make the 4 (or so) apps. ask for pemission each time, or allow them permanent access.

Yes, I agree. Zone Alarm works fine. The readme text also confirms which parts of the P900 software you must ensure you give permissions to prevent hitting the wall.

I am having problems with the p900 as well... when I connect the Pc Suite/connection wizard/sync etc wont show and my phone is not recognised. The connection link is estabilished no problems with that. I have done the following:
1. installed updated drivers for the pad
2 installed pc suite
3.tried connecting it to several different USB ports
4. activated port in the Phone Monitor Properities in the Control Panel
5. Set the same baud settings on both phone and computer port. (port 3 for USB)
now... im out of ideas.
I am running Win XP sp1.
