hey,
these past few days, my p900s battery is draining very quickly, with absolutely NO use (basically kept in my pocket all day). i finished charging it about an hour and a half ago and it is at 65 % life already. any help? also, if there is a defect in the battery, can i get SE to replace it under warranty?
thx

Q1. Do you have an app (Handy Day, Tracker, Switcher etc) that will allow you to close open applications?
Q2. Have you conditioned the battery proplerly in the first place (long charge, complete discharge, repeat long charge)?
The battery will only be covered by the warranty if it has gone faulty fairly quickly, otherwise it's viewed as a consumable, the performance of which should deteriorate.

well, ive had my phone for round about 2 months, and up until 2 days ago it has lasted with my usual light use for about 2 or 3 days between charges. i have not changed my usage in any way and dont have any software which may dramatically influence battery life.

Whilst my battery drainage has not been affected quite as dramatically as the original poster, I have noticed that after around 3-4 months my battery is suffering slightly, as I have mentioend on here before...
My problem began after performing an Orange update, via the Sony website... This I have done twice, the first one caused greater problems, although I do believe that signal strength had improved, or at least stabalised slightly...
The 2nd update I performed more recently seems to have rectified this problem to some degree... with the battery now lasting well over 4 days again, after quite a few over and hour phone calls, frequent GPRS checks of emails, and a little game playing here and there... this is much better than after the 1st update, where the abttery drained in around 2 days without half as much usage...
I don't know if you are an Orange firmward sufferer as I was, In which case I would advise checking the SE site again to get the newer update... failing that pop to your nearest service center for an update there, since I do believe that new firmwares have been introduced to solve certain bugs, perhaps the battery issue being one...
It may also be worth doing a complete discharge, and then a 16ish hour charge again, perhaps a few times, as inconvenient as this may be...

Me too!
My phone is about 3 months old and it has just started the same problem - only I can only get less than 9 hours use before the red power-low warning.
I have conditioned the battery (almost zero charge then 16 hours charge) and l have both Handy day 2004 and SMan.
This has been going on for the past 4 days. I think the battery is dead?

There seems to be a trend developing here...
Though perhaps you should try completely discharging the battery, letting the phone turn itself off... then leaving it charge, untouched for a good few hours, well more than 10... and perhaps do this a few times... it did improve mine slightly, in between my updates...
Also, if perhaps HandyDay is responsible for battery eating, as I recall hearing about Tracker once or twice... may be worthwhile disabling this...
As for SE not replacing the battery, then I shoudl think that if enough people moaned loud and often enough then something should be done... the battery may be a consumable, but a rechargeable battery of this sort should not suffer a memory effect this soon...

Hmmmm.....
It's a tough one because it's difficult to determine if the battery's faulty, due to the huge number of factors that can affect drainage on a phone like the Px00.
How about.....go back to the retailer and ask for a replacement battery, as you have tried all the suggested methods of increasing the battery life with no success. Most will say yes within the first few months....any that don't, refer to the alleged 500-1000 recharges an Li-Pol battery is supposed to have before any negative effects occur, and suddenly, it's "not fit for the purpose for which it was sold" - badaboom!

OK. I have been observing this quick drain phenomenon since I had my P800 last year. From what I have seen the problem is a process or system function that locks up. Many times it happens if you set the phone to download email every hour. If your email server does not respond and locks your battery will actually raise in temperature (dramatically) and within an hour you will be out of battery power. I also agree that manually closing all Apps with taskman works most of the time. HOWEVER, in a few cases I had to perform a hard reset of the device and build the system back WITHOUT performing a restore. Hope this helps.
