I'm looking upgrading soon to a SE P900 as my Compaq PDA has just died, and thing I could also do with a new phone.

Is the P900 really a good subsitute for a PDA, I mainly use MS Word and Excel, the rest I know it can do..... Photo veiwing, voice recorder ETC.

Thanx Guy and Gals.

MILO

The P900 doesn't come with built-in office program editing, only viewers, for word, etc.
You can however get add-on software that allows you to edit documents.
The P900 is a good organizational tool, you can view photos, record voice, play games, etc.
However memory is limited to 128 mb using memory stick duo.
I suggest you find someone who has a P800/P900 and checking it out.
I'm a business user and find the P900 satisfies my requirements except for 3 areas:
Limited memory, no fax and no bluetooth handsfree profile.

i would rather go for the XDA II from O2 if i were the PDA minded guy. But the size really matters that when i am at work and like a swimfan myself, XDA is not very applicable. too expensive to lose one. it gives almost all o the functions on a windows palm.
But P900 is way cool, with Quick office now, you can edit Ms Exl and Word, no swet as i have been waiting so long for this software.
P900 is not very wide, handy in every bit than an XDAII.

Rest is upto u m8

What can a PDA do that a P900 can't, or doesn't have the capacity to do? (Except WiFi, I know.)

Generally the range & quality of software for the Pocket PC is much greater than on the P900 which is what really makes the PocketPC better as a PDA. For PIM functions, you can't beat a PocketPC with AgendaFusion installed.

But, as many have found, you can live without advanced functions & the P900 is more than adequate for my PDA use. Still miss my XDA2 though but couldn't afford or justify keeping both!

p900 is a light weighted PDA.

Just a word about Quickoffice. I notice it can and does corrupt MS Word documents, which I have opened only to find stray HTML headers (because QW saves as an HTML file) or, worse, missing paragraphs! For fun it's OK, but if you're going to be doing anything mission-critical - better think about it. This message was posted from a WAP device

As you can see in my sig i switched from a Palm Tungsten C to a P800.

i dropped my TC in the water and fried it so i had to get a new PDA. Then i got a really good deal on a P800 and went for it. So far i'm very happy because of the great integration of phone and PDA in a small form factor.

i find the Palm superior with regards to user friendlyness, speed and available 3rd party programs but somehow the P800 has really grown on me! i now have my PDA with me everywhere which is great...

For me to go back to Palm they'd have to come up with something really special. The Treo 600 looks tempting

I had a P800 and now a P900 and might get the P1000 if it comes out soon enough to stop me from getting the MPx. I like the idea of getting away from Sony Memory Sticks and having Wi-Fi and Pocket PC apps. The size seems ok for what you are getting. Now I really want to see what the P1000 specs are.
