i am trying to set up my vodafone email address with my p900, i have all the settings from vodafone installed on my phone but i cant send or recieve anything, whenever i try to send something 2 icons appear on my phone, a globe and a phone with a cross thru it. it tries to connect with the server but nothing happens atall, if i use the other voda gprs settings it tries to send the email (it shows ths % bar of completion) then tells me that 'unkown problem while sending email'
vodafone havent a clue why this is happening, they suggest it might be a handset problem
any ideas from you lot?
all help appreciated!

you haven't mentioned exactly what settings you have but generally the settings that Vodafone send you are WAP GPRS (ord CSD) settings which will do you no good for sending/receiving email.
For email, make sure you have a data account set up where the address field is set to "internet" (no quotes). Thats the only field you need to fill in for the data account. No username or password are required.
In your email account you can set up your incoming server, username and password to whatever you have from your ISP (and presumably also setup on your PC)
for the outgoing server you will need to set it to smtp.vizzavi.co.uk

i have the 'internet' settings from vodafone but they told me to put 'web' as the password . i have one of vodas new email addys and have been told to use send.vodafone.net where you instead smtp.vizzavi.co.uk
i think i will delete all internet + email account settings i have and start afresh

yeah username web and password web do also work but I am a minimalist and no username or password has always worked for me so I never bother to mention them.
Every time I get a new phone (every few months it seems!) I put the settings into it manually and it always works first time, including on the P900
I did read in another thread that the vizzavi SMTP is supposed to be phased out some time but its still the one listed on the vodafone web site so I continue to use that. I hadn't heard of send.vodafone.net so I will note that include the vizzavi one stops working. ta
