i've never succesfully used a .wav for MMS either, because the phone does not support wavs. It supports .mid and .imy
I have on accosion got .amr files when transferring received MMS to the PC (are those similar to .wav?? coz they sound like midis to me)

but *correct me if I'm wrong* this is the format to which certain computers will save received MMS content. That does by no means mean you can use the .wav or .ams file unchanged as a rington on your phone.

Here's an idea. Send a wav back to your phone and see what happens. I'm guessing your pc auto changes it to a recognisaale format.
