Yo Yo Yo
Just managed to downgrade my contract, did wait three months but you dont have too. You can just lie and say you have had the phone for as long as you like as they do not have the info on their screen.
This is cool though.
To call customer services just ring 100 from a pay monthly and you can get hold of them for free!

they bother to ask because it's part of their validation procedure. i.e they have to ask before they go into certain parts of your records-regulatory compliance.
the 100 number thing sounds good, but you're always better emailing o2, it's the only way you seem to get someone who hasn't already perfomed a self-lobotomy...

I had simply asked them if 0845 calls were included in Pay Monthly tariffs - why did they need to know my inside leg measurement for that! FCS - oh, he also finished off saying that 0845 calls were NOT included so I composed a suitable reply !!

This is what I got back....

Dear Steve,

Thank you for contacting O2 Customer Service.

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the reply that you received. I understand your feelings entirely and would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

I can advise that 0845 numbers are charged at standard rate and are included in your inclusive minutes on the newer tariffs.

Robin Anthony
O2 Customer Service.

So eventually you get a sensible reply from someone who obviously knows what they are talking about - but it did take 3 attempts to get the right answer!

Steve

So at the end of the day, who's right? Are 0845 and 0870 numbers part of the inclusive minutes???? I have an online and an offline SIM so this info would be handy!

@Bluejackers you kinda proved my point. it's better to email them than pay 50ppm for online help. nless it's urgent of course...
@tbl apparently, as 0845/0870 numbers are "non geographic", they are not included in your minutes... sorry.

good to see some more scots on the forum!

50p for online help? - just phone 100 from your phone for free.

The definitive answer is that ALL 0845 CALLS are INCLUDED in your monthly call allowance if you have a 'newer' tariff - for example O2 200 or O2 400 etc. Get a brochure from O2 or CPW and check the small print and it tells you which tariffs have inclusive 0845 calls but it's pretty much all of the pay monthly ones. If you have a tariff that has restrictions on the time of day then the calls are only inclusive if used at that time of day.

That's why I now use GSM to get my email rather than gprs

they need to know your account details so they can view which price plan your on, some priceplans will let you use 0845 in free mins, others wont. simple as that.
