I've got a T68i at the moment and I'm sick of it. The main problems are
it's ridiculously slow in menus and writing texts
it keeps switching off in my pocket because the keylock doesn't lock the off button
it looks crap now because the casing is such poor quality it's scufffed, scratched and cracked - and I've not treated it particularly harshly
the slider switch stopped working six months ago
I desparately want to get a new phone, but I'm not sure if I should wait for something better. I have to get Orange because the other networks don't have reliable enough coverage where I live, so the T630's not an option.
Does the T610 have any of the problems I have had with the T68i?
I want a phone that:
is more reliable than the T68i
has similar or better features to the T610
isn't a flip phone
is in the free/cheap price bracket for Orange contract
Is there anything coming within the next couple of months that is worth waiting for? Every second person has a T610 at the moment and it seems a bit late to be jumping on that bandwagon.

Wait for the T650 or buy the T630 and get it unlocked, but the T610 is a good phone, the only problem i have had with my phone is sometimes when i push a key the number comes up twice not once

Thanks for the feedback!
Buying a T630 and unlocking it will end up costing quite a bit!
What will the T650 have over the T610? I can find very little info other than a picture.

true ... I do not find the menu radically faster! Yes, it is a wee bit faster, but thats all.
I live in Kuwait and I find that the Nokia has a far better reception in comparison. I mean, at a regular basement, the Nokia gives me 4 bars of reception as compared an "SOS Calls only" given by the T610.
As I see it now after having got the T610, the only advantage I have of having the SE is that I can use the FMA software...

Yes, the SE T610 is known for RF problems. However, according to reviews I've seen, this has changed in the T630. I already know, that the Z600 has far better reception than the T610.

What u should do is check the Orange website. No help needed for that and THEN post a few options u found in there thus allowing ppl to post their opinions. If u look for a free/cheap phone and a GOOD one, here, hold ur breath...there isn't any.Good phones are not cheap, except for the T610 - but this one has set a new level in midle/upwards market.

I dont seem to have any problems at all with reception. The phone was built week 47 of 2003.
The only problem i have is sometimes when i turn it off (Which isn't often) The phone just starts vibrating and doesn't stop.
Locked up a couple of times aswell.

Well, if the T630 does have better reception, is it related to improved hardware or software? If it is software, maybe Se can provide an upgrade to overcome an issue that is causing me major concerns!
Cheers

The T610 is a great phone - but compared to nokia it is a bit slow in sms and menus. Nothing that bothers me though.
As for reception - its pure and utter nonsense that reception should be better in T630 or Z600 - as these phones are based on exactly the same hardwareplatform and general software. Only difference is screen and design. This has been documented thousands of times by now - and I cannot understand why people still post roumors of the opposite.
If you make sure you allways have the latest firmware - all 3 models should behave exactly the same. The only thing I can think of that could maybe influence resceptionquality could be the antennadesign on the Z600 that differs from the T610/630 - this could theoretically have a positive effect.
If I where you I would hold my breath a couple of weeks before making any descissions - S//E is about to unveil specs etc. on their new line of phones - for instance the "T650" and the price of the T610/T630 is allready dropping rapidly because of it. Atleast in my country it is.
So far what can be said about the "T650" is that it will have more memory than T610/T630. I would wait and see what S//E will have to offer - I think there will be some great models - but if not - you can allways get the T610/T630 cheaper. Older models allways drop in price when new models are presented.
