I would like to be able to backup the internal memory of my P900 (appointment / contact data, installed apps, images, etc) to a memory-stick duo.

As I am not a Windoze user, the PC Suite does not work for me. So I need some other way of securing my data.

This would be useful when doing firmware updates. The backup and restore parts could be done to and from the memory stick.

Does anyone know of a tool or application that could perform this backup and restore functionality?

If not, is there a developer who might like to build such a function? For example, it might be a logical extension of sman to include a backup / restore utility that uses the MS-Duo as its backup media.

Regards
Peter

I've emailed a few developers to pitch this idea, and so far I've had one reply, from Epocware, to indicate interest.

You wont be able to backup everything this way, certain files can only be copied when they are not used (pc suite reboots the phone in backup mode using the cradle to accomplish this, but thats not an option any software running on the actual device can use). Unfortunately the contacts.cdb file is one of these files.

Still, anything that is not in use can be manually backed up to memstick using any filemanager (providing it displays the full filesystem like sman), you just need to know where the data is stored.

Some system files can't be accessed on operating mode but messages, phonebook and calendar data files can be copied.
You can do it manually.

Only appz, i think, can't
